Published in 2021, Van Richten’s Guide to Ravenloftis one of the best Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition books. Written from the perspective of vampire hunter Rudolph van Richten, the sourcebook incorporates a series of letters written from him to other heroes, including his protégé Ezmerelda d’Avenir. These letters provide meaningful context about the Domains of Dread that form the tabletop role-playing game‘s signature horror setting. The book was so popular that Wizards of the Coast reworked it for the 5.5e ruleset with Ravenloft: The Horrors Within, which was released in June. Another follow-up will arrive next month in a totally different format.
